They are in charge of completing the entire check-in process for entering the park through the San Jerónimo–Chirripó route. Next, the luggage of those who wish to hire muleteer and porter services will be dropped off. Finally, after completing this process, you will be able to check in at the designated cabins.
Start of the tour – San Jerónimo–Chirripó Route
First, our day will begin with a light breakfast. Next, local transportation will take us to the starting point of the hike. The idea is to begin between 3–4 a.m. The total distance to cover is 14.5 km (9 miles), so the hike may take approximately 6 to 8 hours. Check-in at the lodge is available from 11 a.m. Upon arrival at the shelter, you can collect your delivered luggage, use the showers, and have lunch. If the weather allows, you’ll also have the option to explore the surrounding area on foot.
Closer and closer to the summit.
Day 3 - Base Crestones - Chirripó Summit
Finally, the long awaited day has arrived. In the morning, our adventure begins at 2:00 a.m., allowing us to leave the shelter around 2:30 a.m. This will give us enough time to reach the summit and witness the sunrise. After experiencing this breathtaking and unforgettable moment, we’ll begin the descent and continue on the circuit known as Ventana, Cerro Terbi, Crestones, and back to the shelter. This route will allow us to enjoy most of the main attractions, returning just in time for lunch and a well-deserved rest at the refuge.
