We are a family owned business with over 15 years of experience, born out of a deep love for nature and a desire to share the unique adventure of climbing the majestic Cerro Chirripó. Our journey began with Licho Garita, one of the company’s founders, who dedicated more than 48 years to the national park. Starting as a park ranger and later becoming a guide, arriero, and porter, Licho transitioned into these roles to enjoy greater flexibility and spend more time with his family. Along the way, he achieved an impressive national record of over 6,000 ascents to Chirripó.
Over time, friends and family began asking for our assistance to climb Chirripó. Back then, there were no official concession services, so we stepped in as a family, organizing everything: meals, permits, lodging, and guided tours. We crafted personalized packages so that visitors could experience the beauty of the park effortlessly.
Our dream became more professional when Amelia, a member of our family, pursued a degree in Tourism at the National University. Her expertise helped solidify the business we know today. Currently, Carolina, with her background in administration, manages the company’s operations, while Xinia ensures every guest receives attentive care and handles any emergencies during their visit.
Hikes to Chirripó was selected by the U.S. Embassy to represent Costa Rica in the YLAI (Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative) program, where we showcased our experiences and services in the United States.
We were among 14 businesses nationwide chosen to join the Gender Parity Initiative Network (IPG), reflecting our commitment to equality and progress.
We earned the Women in Business and Entrepreneurship recognition from INA, INAMU, and MEIC, underscoring our role as a leader in sustainable tourism.
